Baseball Game Preview: Passaic County Tech Bulldogs vs. Eastside Ghosts

The Passaic County Tech Bulldogs will challenge the Eastside Ghosts at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Passaic County Tech's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Eastside has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Passaic County Tech nor Wayne Valley made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Indians 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Eastside fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against DePaul Catholic on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 5-4.

Kairo Reyes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Elier Ventura also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Passaic County Tech has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Eastside, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Everything went Passaic County Tech's way against Eastside when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Passaic County Tech made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Ghosts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
