Baseball Game Preview: McDaniel Mountain Lions vs. Franklin Quakers

The McDaniel Mountain Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Franklin Quakers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McDaniel, who comes in off a win.

McDaniel will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Roosevelt, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mountain Lions were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Roughriders on Thursday. While the Mountain Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Franklin fell victim to Putnam and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kingsmen. The defeat continues a trend for the Quakers in their meetings with the Kingsmen: they've now lost three in a row.

McDaniel's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

McDaniel took their victory against Franklin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountain Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
