Baseball Recap: Bella Vista Comes Up Short

Bella Vista dropped their record down to 8-15 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Christian Brothers Falcons by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-1 defeat two weeks ago.

Alec Murray was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Bella Vista saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Catcher Lucchesi, who went 1-for-4 with one run.

As for Christian Brothers, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games.

On Christian Brothers' side, Josh Lewis tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bella Vista will challenge rival Vista del Lago at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Christian Brothers is set to square off against their familiar foe Rio Americano at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 2.9, the Raiders 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
