Softball Recap: Dunnellon Comes Up Short

If Dunnellon was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Eastside two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dunnellon came up short against the Forest Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 16-1. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Dunnellon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Joiner, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Dunnellon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Forest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Dunnellon will challenge Nature Coast Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dunnellon's pitchers better be ready for this one: Nature Coast Tech has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Forest, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Gainesville at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Forest has won four straight at home, while Gainesville won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
