Football Recap: Monrovia Wildcats vs. Palmdale Falcons
Monrovia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed by the Palmdale Falcons at home to the tune of 35-7. The Wildcats pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons cut but never quite recovered from.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Jesse Saucedo and his top target Joshua Griffiths. Saucedo threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes while Griffiths gained 149 total yards and two touchdowns. Griffiths also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Monrovia was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 523 total yards. That's the most total yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Monrovia wouldn't let Palmdale keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Lucas Martinez was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. His also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack, forcing two fumbles, and making eight total tackles.
Monrovia will challenge Eagle Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palmdale, they will head out on the road to face off against Eisenhower at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
