Softball Game Preview: Grafton Bearcats vs. Weir Red Riders

For the second straight game, Grafton will face off against Weir. The Bearcats will face off against the Red Riders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Grafton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Grafton is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Weir just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Red Riders by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bearcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Lillie Crimm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grafton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Poling, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Weir is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7-1.
