Softball Game Preview: Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats vs. Ganado Indians

Bloomington hasn't had much luck against Ganado recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Bloomington will venture away from home to square off against Ganado at 6:00 p.m. Bloomington has given up an average of 19.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bloomington is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 19-0 to Weimar.

Meanwhile, while Ganado put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Flatonia. Ganado was the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Flatonia. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Flatonia's batters probably weren't too happy with Saylor Bures, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks). Bures has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ganado got a massive performance out of Kalyn Benavides, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Laci Holt, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Ganado has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. Bloomington's loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Bloomington suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Ganado in their previous matchup back in February. Can Bloomington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
