Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Heights Huskies vs. Yorktown Tigers

Hamilton Heights is 0-10 against Yorktown since May of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Huskies will challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hamilton Heights is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Jay County get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

The result came thanks to Lily Cash's shutout, as she gave up just a hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on McKenzie Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Melanee Forrester was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Yorktown waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 9-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by nine runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Olivia Jones's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Yorktown let Abbey Booher and Brooklyn Bartle run wild. Booher went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Bartle went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jaromin, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Hamilton Heights' record is now 12-10. As for Yorktown, their record now sits at 19-4.

Hamilton Heights couldn't quite finish off Yorktown in their previous meeting back in April and fell 10-8. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
