Baseball Recap: Versailles Triumphs

Versailles proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 25) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Memorial Roughriders 7-6. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Roughriders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Jace Watren was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Subler, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Versailles pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Memorial, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Roughriders beat Versailles by a score of 5-1 later that day.
