Baseball Game Preview: Westminster School Martlets vs. Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans

The Westminster School Martlets will head out on the road to face off against the Loomis Chaffee School Pelicans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westminster School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Westminster School came out on top against Kent School by a score of 4-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Martlets in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won nine in a row.

Zachary Jainchill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jake Pleau was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Westminster School: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Lytle, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Loomis Chaffee School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Avon Old Farms, falling 13-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pelicans have suffered since March 31st.

The victory got Westminster School back to even at 7-7. As for Loomis Chaffee School, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
