Baseball Recap: Gateway Has No Trouble Against Babcock

Gateway's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over the Babcock Trailblazers. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Hunter Squire led a balanced Eagles bullpen and struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Squire has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Gateway saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Caraballo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Juan Carlos Lineras also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Gateway now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Babcock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Gateway has already played their next contest, an 11-4 win against East Lee County on the 4th. As for Babcock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 17-1 victory against Moore Haven on the 4th.
