Dorman faced Cardinal Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1. The Cavaliers' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Reese Shugart paced Dorman's offense, picking up 12 kills. Shugart got some help from Ramsey Larke Chastain and her 13 assists. Finally, Kesley Caldwell kept Dorman's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Cardinal Newman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emerson Ramsdale, who had 11 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Ramsdale has posted since back in August.

Dorman's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Cardinal Newman, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-4.

Dorman has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Oceanside Collegiate Academy on the 27th. As for Cardinal Newman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against North Myrtle Beach on the 27th.
