Softball Recap: Astoria/VIT's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Beardstown, Astoria/VIT was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Augusta Southeastern Suns 15-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Rebels have posted against the Suns since April 12, 2018.

S Heller was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. D Chenoweth was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Astoria/VIT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Astoria/VIT's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Augusta Southeastern, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bushnell-Prairie City at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Augusta Southeastern, they will challenge Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Suns surely won't give up without a fight.
