Basketball Recap: Braddock Takes a Loss

Braddock and Homestead squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Braddock had to settle for second. They fell 44-34 to the Broncos. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Braddock saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabriella Hurtado posted eight points and eight boards. Hurtado has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Jessica Jebian was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Homestead found their leader in freshman Jordyn Warren, who scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jai'Lene Bosch, who had seven points.

Braddock's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Homestead, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4.

Braddock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Homestead, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-23 defeat against Mater Academy Charter on the 6th.
