Baseball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short

Polk County suffered their closest loss since March 14, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the East Henderson Eagles by a score of 10-8. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

Gunnar Alm was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Polk County is 3-1 when Alm posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Karson Scruggs, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Polk County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. East Henderson moved to 1-8 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Coming up, Polk County will be playing in front of their home fans against Hendersonville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Henderson, they will venture away from home to square off against Tuscola at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
