League recap: Portola's Lowdermilk delivers best pitching performance from past week

Mid-Valley league recap: 4/3/13

Mid-Valley's top pitcher this week was Portola's Ricky Lowdermilk. He won one game and retired 16 batters.

Clayton Sears was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .259 average with seven RBIs. The Tigers went 3-1.

Portola had trouble finding a groove at the plate as a team this week, racking up a league-leading 66 strikeouts. The Tigers have struggled at the plate this season, leading the league with 85 strikeouts.

There were four hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Scott Wells, who collected two hits in three at bats for a .667 average.

Portola's Lowdermilk led the league in strikeouts this week with 16. With 36 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Zach Troughton led Maxwell to a win on March 28, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat Pierce, 4-1. Over seven innings of work, he gave up two hits and one run.

Connor Herrick drove in four runners as Colusa defeated Quincy 16-6 on Saturday. He went 2-for-5 and scored one run.
