Softball Game Preview: Monticello Billies vs. DeWitt Dragons

The Monticello Billies will take on the DeWitt Dragons in a tournament on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

DeWitt will be up against a hot Monticello team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Billies blew past Crossett 12-3 on Friday.

Macey Stell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Stell was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Libby Kingston and Ashley Hales did most of the damage at the plate: Kingston went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hales went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Kingston has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Addi Frazer, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Monticello always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crossett only posted an OBP of .308.

Meanwhile, DeWitt got the win against Crossett on Thursday by a conclusive 18-1.

The victory got DeWitt back to even at 5-5. As for Monticello, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Monticello was able to grind out a solid victory over DeWitt in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 6-3. Do the Billies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
