Softball Recap: Taft Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hutto

Taft extended their postseason success on Saturday against Hutto. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hippos a 4-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Alyssa Rangel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. Those 19 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Quiroz and Alexis King did most of the damage at the plate: Quiroz went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while King went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Briana Aguilar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Taft pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hutto, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-13.

As of now, neither Taft nor the Hippos have any future games scheduled.
