Softball Game Preview: North White Vikings vs. Twin Lakes Indians

The North White Vikings will face off against the Twin Lakes Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Twin Lakes took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on North White, who comes in off a win.

While Vikings fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. Everything went their way against Delphi Community on Monday as they made off with a 14-4 victory.

Kaylyn Applegate made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Applegate was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adriann Conn was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Melanie Crawford, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

North White always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delphi Community only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Twin Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of West Lafayette.

Madalyn Bird spent all 9.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 15 hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Twin Lakes saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myley Spriggs, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Miya Clerget was another, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
