Baseball Recap: Ravenscroft Victorious

While Ravenscroft's victory against Durham Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ravenscroft Ravens had just enough and edged out the Durham Academy Cavaliers 3-1. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Will Eichler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Asa Turner was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Jack Holt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Ravenscroft's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Durham Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Ravenscroft will face off against Trinity Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ravenscroft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Durham Academy, they will square off against Carrboro at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carrboro has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.71 runs per game on average), something Durham Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
