Baseball Game Preview: Harper Longhorns vs. Goldthwaite Eagles

For the second straight game, Harper will face off against Goldthwaite. The Longhorns will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Harper is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since April 2, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Goldthwaite.

For Goldthwaite's part, they got a good showing from Ben Wetzig, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wetzig has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Goldthwaite saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hagen Greenway, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Greenway is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Harper has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Goldthwaite, they moved to 4-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
