Basketball Recap: Union Grove Christian Takes a Loss

Union Grove Christian played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Oak Grove Grizzlies, falling 57-35. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 124th).

Defeat or not, Union Grove Christian got some senior leadership from Klaire Cromer and Sara Long. Cromer went 6 for 8 on her way to 16 points, while Long posted five points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cromer has scored all season.

Oak Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cora Hadley, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and six steals. That's the most steals Hadley has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Lockamy, who put up four points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Union Grove Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Oak Grove, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Union Grove Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against New Manna Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oak Grove, they will venture away from home to square off against Randleman at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
