Softball Recap: Lee County Drops Season-High Score on Southern Lee

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lee County). They put the hurt on the Southern Lee Cavaliers with a sharp 18-5 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Yellow Jackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Lee County let McKayla Mcdougald and Cherish Smith run wild. Mcdougald went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI, while Smith went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Imani Chubbs, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Lee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lee County's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Southern Lee, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Lee County will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Union Pines at 6:00 p.m. As for Southern Lee, they will venture away from home to square off against Riverside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Lee will need to watch out since Riverside Christian Academy has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
