Baseball Recap: Corvian Community Takes a Loss

Corvian Community was the 14-0 winner over Mountain Island Charter when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals fell just short of the Raptors by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday.

Brennan Frey put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Frey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Corvian Community's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Frey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Gilmore, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Corvian Community's record is now 7-9. As for Mountain Island Charter, they moved to 5-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Corvian Community beat the Raptors by a score of 6-3 on Thursday.
