Volleyball Recap: La Jolla Takes a Loss

La Jolla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Scripps Ranch Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 1-0 loss last Saturday.

While La Jolla ultimately came up short, they really made Scripps Ranch work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 20-25, 25-13, 25-23.

Ben Salmon paced La Jolla's offense, picking up 13 kills. Salmon got some help from Adam Grushkevich and his 25 assists.

La Jolla's defeat dropped their record down to 15-22. As for Scripps Ranch, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 21-15.

La Jolla and Scripps Ranch should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Vikings will square off against Mt. Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (163 vs. 359). Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch (ranked 109th) will meet Otay Ranch (ranked 278th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
