La Costa Canyon and El Camino are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2016, but not for long. The Mavericks will host the Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in La Costa Canyon's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games.

La Costa Canyon took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They strolled past San Marcos with points to spare, taking the game 49-35. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Coby Herman and Zamar Reese. Herman had a great game and gained 216 total yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Reese was balling out in the loss, rushing for 96 yards and four touchdowns, while also picking up 129 receiving yards and one score.

La Costa Canyon's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Kreet Makihele three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zach Kunz, Henry Mallory, and Lucas White, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, El Camino was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 24-6 bruising from Rancho Bernardo.

La Costa Canyon's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for El Camino, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

La Costa Canyon strolled past El Camino in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 28-11. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
