Volleyball Game Preview: Bonanza Bengals vs. Durango Trailblazers

Bonanza hasn't had much luck against Durango recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Bonanza will head out to face off against Durango at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Monday, Bonanza didn't have quite enough to beat Sunrise Mountain and fell 3-2. While the Bengals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Miners 25-20 in the first set.

Bonanza wouldn't go down easily and took Sunrise Mountain into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-19, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Durango faced Cimarron-Memorial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Durango fell just short of Cimarron-Memorial by a score of 3-2. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Durango took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-10, 22-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Durango's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Bonanza, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Bonanza came up short against Durango when the teams last played on March 1st, falling 2-0. Can Bonanza avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
