Leakey has gone 8-1 against Nueces Canyon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will host the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Leakey's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Nueces Canyon has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Friday, Leakey took a blow against Medina, falling 75-30. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Bobcats are ranked 26th).

Despite their loss, Leakey saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aiden Hernandez, who rushed for 66 yards and one TD, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-34, which was the final score in Nueces Canyon's tilt against Eden on Friday. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Nueces Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Leakey, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Leakey against Nueces Canyon in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured an 88-52 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Panthers' Marcos Ortiz, who picked up 95 receiving yards and three scores, and also rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Eagles to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
