Basketball Recap: York Takes a Loss

York was the 58-51 winner over Marshwood when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The York Wildcats lost 67-43 to the Marshwood Hawks on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Hawks are ranked ninth).

York's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Marshwood, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cape Elizabeth at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Marshwood, they will venture away from home to take on Biddeford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
