Preview: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Widefield Gladiators
Pueblo Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Widefield Gladiators at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Pueblo Central suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 51-26 defeat at the hands of Pueblo County. Pueblo Central has struggled against Pueblo County recently, as their match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Pueblo Central got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Jazel Duque and
Kate Domina, who each put up five points.
Meanwhile, Widefield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Coronado on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 51-46 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Widefield.
Pueblo Central bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.3 points per game. As for Widefield, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Pueblo Central might still be hurting after the 49-28 loss they got from Widefield in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Pueblo Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
