Football Recap: Layton Takes a Loss

Layton extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were dealt a 52-7 defeat at the hands of the Syracuse Titans. The Lancers lost against the Titans in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 37-19 score last time.

Koen Doane threw for 46 yards on five of 11 attempts. On the ground, Jp Garlick rushed for 39 yards.

As for Syracuse, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Ledger Wight, who rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 137 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 108.5 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Ryker Van Komen, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Layton will head out to face off against Weber at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Syracuse, they will venture away from home to square off against Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' defense better be ready for this one: the Darts have averaged an impressive 44.8 points per game this season.
