Eastland is 8-2 against Breckenridge since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Eastland Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Breckenridge Buckaroos at 6:15 p.m. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Eastland and seven for Breckenridge.

Eastland is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Comanche on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Eastland was outmatched by Comanche and fell 69-39. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 745th, while the Indians are ranked 187th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-18, which was the final score in Breckenridge's tilt against Tolar on Friday. The Buckaroos were down 47-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Karsyn Smalley was Breckenridge's leading scorer, having posted six points. Smalley also led the team in assists with two. Ruthie Valdez held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Breckenridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Eastland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Eastland took their win against Breckenridge in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 77-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
