Hoopa Valley is 0-10 against St. Bernard since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Warriors will welcome the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Hoopa Valley's offense. They came up short against Ferndale on Thursday, falling 10-0. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hoopa Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barret Myers, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, St. Bernard's entered their tilt with South Fork on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cubs with a sharp 13-2 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Brunton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, St. Bernard's got a massive performance out of Mason Noel, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Noel has posted since back in March of 2024. Michael Manzi was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and four RBI.
St. Bernard's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Hoopa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for St. Bernard's, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Hoopa Valley couldn't quite get it done against St. Bernard's in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 5-0. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
