Basketball Recap: Oakwood Comes Up Short

Oakwood came up into this matchup off a tough 24-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Valley View Spartans by a score of 64-61 on Friday. The Lumberjacks have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Leading Valley View to victory were Ty Fritz and Brody Denny. Fritz dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards, while Denny posted 21 points and five steals. The match was Denny's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Landon Ramsey was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Oakwood's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 11-4. As for Valley View, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Franklin the next time they take the court. Valley View will host Franklin at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, while Oakwood will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
