Basketball Recap: Ellicott Skates Past Banning Lewis Academy with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Ellicott on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions out of the water with a 66-36 final score. The Thunderhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Loss or not, Banning Lewis Academy got some senior leadership from Natalia Burton and Izzy Gonzalez. Burton dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards, while Gonzalez posted ten points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in points.

The win (which was Ellicott's third in a row) raised their record to 15-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Banning Lewis Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-16.

Looking ahead, Ellicott will take on Buena Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellicott has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Banning Lewis Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
