Basketball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

Newark played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 49-8 loss at the hands of the Peotone Blue Devils. The Norsemen were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Peotone found their leader in sophomore Olivia Moe, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 18 points and seven steals. Moe is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Bettenhausen, who posted eight points.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Peotone, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-18 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newark will host Indian Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Peotone, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Streator at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
