Baseball Recap: St. Charles East's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

It's playoff time, and St. Charles East had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Lake Park Lancers 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Fighting Saints: when they faced off against the Lancers back in April, they had to take a 11-10 defeat.

Joey Arend made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Arend wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan McGrew, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

St. Charles East's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-18. As for Lake Park, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-17 record.

As of now, neither St. Charles East nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
