Football Recap: Wallkill Panthers vs. Kingston Tigers
It was a proper cat-fight when Wallkill challenged Kingston on Friday. The Wallkill Panthers took a 36-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kingston Tigers. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Wallkill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jj Detz, who threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt. Ryan Rauschenbach was Detz's top target, picking up 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kingston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Purvis, who threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of John Jones, who picked up 127 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Wallkill now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Kingston, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.
Wallkill will face off against Our Lady of Lourdes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kingston, they will square off against Valley Central at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Kingston is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
