Basketball Recap: Oswego East Takes a Loss

If Oswego East was riding high fresh off their 84-60 takedown of Plainfield South last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oswego East Wolves fell 66-56 to the Providence Catholic Celtics on Thursday. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Celtics apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2015.

Oswego East has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Providence Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Oswego East will be taking part in a tournament against Downers Grove South at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oswego East knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Downers Grove South likes a good challenge. As for Providence Catholic, they will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Andrew at 1:30 p.m. Providence Catholic is facing Andrew at the right time seeing as Andrew is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
