The Davenport Wolves will challenge the Calhoun Sandcrabs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davenport will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Davenport is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Eastside Early College get on the board and left with a 62-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won ten games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Barrett Fallon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 80 yards and two scores, while also catching one TD. Davenport also got help from Caden Scott, who showed off his sure hands for 110 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Davenport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 212 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Davenport didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Alex Reyna, Boston Hernandez, and Josh Johnson picked up one apiece. Davenport received some extra help from Santana Esquivel, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Calhoun). They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-14 win over Zapata. The victory continues a trend for the Sandcrabs in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won four in a row.
Calhoun's win came from a few key players Davenport will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gunner Martinez, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashton Sternadel, who threw for 190 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Calhoun's defense and their nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jesus Jaramillo and Holston Deckard, who racked up five sacks between them. Dane Spencer got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Calhoun, adding 16 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Izaiah Cabrales, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Davenport's record is now 11-0. As for Calhoun, their record now sits at 7-4.
Things could have been worse for Davenport, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-28 loss to Calhoun in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Wolves, Fischer Franck (who rushed for 226 yards and four scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
