Basketball Recap: Sequoyah's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

On Saturday, the Sequoyah Indians were able to grind out a solid victory over the Webster Warriors, taking the game 66-57. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Warriors are ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Webster lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hondo Avington, who to rack up 21 points. The match was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Kimble, who posted 11 points and six steals.

The win made it two in a row for Sequoyah and bumps their season record up to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for Webster, they dropped their record down to 10-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Sequoyah nor Webster have any future games scheduled.
