Recap: Chuckey-Doak Black Knights vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders
The Chuckey-Doak Black Knights''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 55-15 loss at the hands of Gatlinburg-Pittman. Chuckey-Doak was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Leading Gatlinburg-Pittman to victory were Jaden Jones and Tegan Avera. Jones gained 148 total yards and two touchdowns, while Avera rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Avera was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Brayden Maples, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Chuckey-Doak's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 6-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Gatlinburg-Pittman, Johnson County, and South Greene. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Chuckey-Doak will head out on the road to face off against Alcoa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alcoa presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chuckey-Doak in Tennessee (Alcoa is ranked ninth, while Chuckey-Doak is ranked 232nd). As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Union County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
