Softball Recap: McGraw Eagles vs. Hamilton Emerald Knights
With a playoff game on the line, McGraw rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Hamilton Emerald Knights out 6-5. The win was nothing new for McGraw as they're now sitting on five straight.
For Hamilton's part, Ellie Freeth put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Freeth has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Freeth was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and an RBI.
Freeth wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isadora Catania, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
McGraw's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. As for Hamilton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
