Castro Valley barely beat Irvington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Castro Valley Trojans blew past the Irvington Vikings 14-4 on Friday. With that  victory, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7.2  runs per game.
The team  relied heavily on  Anthony Mares, who  scored three  runs while going 3-for-5. What's more,  he posted three  RBI, the most he's  had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Diego Mares, who  scored three  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Castro Valley was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .406. That's the best  batting average they've posted all season.
The  win made it two in a row for Castro Valley and  bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Irvington,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 1-4.
 Looking ahead, Castro Valley will take on Pittsburg at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Pittsburg will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  victory, something Castro Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Irvington, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  match,  a  5-1  win against Monte Vista on the 11th.
