League recap: Worth County/Northeast Nodaway tops Tarkio to extend winning streak

Worth County/Northeast Nodaway extended the longest winning streak in 275 (8 Man) this week by beating Tarkio, 52-12. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Rock Port took down North Nodaway 70-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Mound City's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Luke Sanders has thrown for 783 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Dayne Messer has 18 catches for 396 yards. Thomas Shifflett leads the league in rushing with 1002 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Mound City and Stanberry. The Panthers comes into the matchup ranked seventh in the state, while the Bulldogs ranks second.

Sanders of the Mound City is only 80 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 109 carries Sanders has accumulated 920 yard this year.

Two of the top units in 275 (8 Man) will face off this week when Brian Messer's team takes on Dan Collins' team. The Panthers' offense has racked up 458 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Bulldogs have allowed only 98 on the year.

Mound City made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 446 from 557. The improvement came about via a 58-14 victory over Nodaway-Holt last week.
