Basketball Recap: Jacob Lawlee Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mater Dei Academy

It's playoff time, and Copenhagen had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 53-45 win over the Mater Dei Academy Saints on Friday.

Copenhagen's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Lawlee, who posted 13 points and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Lawlee now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan L'Huillier, who scored eight points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Copenhagen pushed their record up to 10-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. As for Mater Dei Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Copenhagen will square off against Sackets Harbor Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Dei Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
