Basketball Recap: Sandoval Takes a Loss

Sandoval lost against North Clay/Clay City back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Sandoval Blackhawks took a blow against North Clay/Clay City, falling 91-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), the Blackhawks still had to take the loss.

Sandoval's loss came despite strong showings from Trayton Adams and Quentin Heinzman. Adams posted 14 points, while Heinzman earned eight points and nine rebounds. Heinzman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Gordan, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 8 points.

Sandoval is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. As for North Clay/Clay City, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Sandoval wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-69 win against Wayne City on the 17th. North Clay/Clay City will take on Thompsonville in a holiday battle at at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
