Volleyball Recap: Martins Ferry Takes a Loss

Martins Ferry was the 3-0 winner over St. Clairsville when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Purple Riders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils on Thursday.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 14-25, 25-17.

Giana Chirpas paced Martins Ferry's offense, picking up 18 kills. Chirpas got some help from Olivia Harkness and her 40 assists. Chirpas also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Savanah Koller, racking up two apiece.

Martins Ferry's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Clairsville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Martins Ferry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Steubenville on the 23rd. As for St. Clairsville, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Bellaire on the 25th.
