Softball Recap: Bella Vista Wins Going Away Against Mcclatchy

Bella Vista had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the McClatchy Lions on Saturday as they made off with a 7-0 victory. The Broncos not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th.

Mackenzie Dean made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shea Leopold, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayden Shiflett, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Bella Vista lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win got Bella Vista back to even at 7-7. As for McClatchy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Bella Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair will be back at it again later today.
