Baseball Recap: Stoughton Takes a Loss

Stoughton dropped their record down to 4-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Big Foot Chiefs, falling 13-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since April 10th.

Stoughton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Pietruszynski, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Parker Sellnow was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

As for Big Foot, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

On Big Foot's side, Skylar Jacobs was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jacobs also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Big Foot is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Jacobs was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Big Foot let Connor Weeks and Owen Smith run wild. Weeks went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Smith went 1-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Wojcik, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Stoughton will venture away from home to challenge Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Big Foot, they will welcome Turner at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Chiefs surely won't give up without a fight.
